The Journey Begins
Dick Grant and Tom Wood grew up next door to each other in a small upstate New York town called Liberty. Tom was into art and went to Ringling School of Art in Florida: Dick was into words and went to Hobart College in Geneva, New York. They both went into advertising; Tom forming one of the legendary design studios in the South, Creative Services; and Dick was a copywriter and Creative Director at Advertising agencies (from Richmond to New York) before starting the Dick Grant Advertising and Salvage Company in Charleston, South Carolina. But from childhood on, the name Grant Wood intrigued them both for obvious reasons. They said they should do something together. Well, now that they are both playing the back nine on God’s great golf course, they finally got around to it. The paintings and sculptures are Tom’s and the words are Dick’s…And the journey continues.
